What you will learn

Renewing The Mind

“How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?” Psalm 13:2

Introduction

Challenge your thinking….

Women spend more time thinking about what men are thinking than men actually spend time thinking.

Have you ever had emotional issues you wish you didn’t have?

Feelings of intense grief, sadness, sorrow, fear, worry, anxiety, anger?

You might have anger issues if:

· You have ever said: “I am about to exceed the limits of my medication.”

· If you think that stupid people were put on this planet to test your anger management skills

· Instead of controlling your anger, you think everyone around you needs to control their habit of making you mad.

· You try to count to 10 but throw a punch at eight just because nobody expects it.

 ·  You think when Thor throws his hammer, he is serving justice, so why is it when I throw a hammer, I have anger issues?

· Whenever you hold a stick, you think everyone around you looks like a pinata.

After having raised three boys, I have this amazing privilege to watch and observe them raising girls. I have five granddaughters. When my youngest little girl runs toward me, she gets about a yard away and turns around and backs into me wanting me to catch her. I find so much joy and happiness in that little routine we’ve become accustomed too.

Exercise:

Take a couple of minutes to write down an event that happened recently to you and as a result you felt joy, peace, frustration, fear, sadness, or some other emotion.

 Example:

1. Yesterday I was at work and my boss dropped by my office to congratulate me on my presentation last week. I felt relieved and comforted that he had heard positive comments from my co-workers.

2. I was so scared the other day when I saw my bank statement and noticed a $300 withdrawal that I had no memory of making.

3. Even when it doesn’t seem like God is paying attention to our deepest needs, he is driving us to our deepest solutions.

God would never give us life to live without enough quality tools for success. The one primary tool he has given us to navigate the hardships of this world, is our mind.

It is often our thinking that gets us into trouble.

We don’t get into trouble, we bring trouble.

The battlefield is in the mind.

Renewing the mind is a tool that has helped me gain amazing victory over my perfectionistic tendencies and obsessive thinking.

What is it that you would like to overcome?

In this study, we will discuss some of the obstacles and challenges we face while trying to live a life productively.

It will take:

·  voluntarily examining our thoughts that reside in our mind.

·  Becoming self-aware of how our thinking may limit our action to make necessary changes in our life.

·  And finally, you will be introduced to a tool that will bring confidence in becoming a person of courage to change what you want to change.
